To rent an inflatable kite requires instructor approval, availability and an IKO (International Kiteboarding Organization) card to confirm level 3N. Check where you stand... IKO Levels.
Air Padre Kiteboarding now offers supervised kiteboarding rentals to qualified kiteboarders. An instructor will supervise and participate while you are Kiteboarding. They will assist in setup and launching and evaluate your skills. Then you are on your own for the rest of your session. The instructor will remain on site and may also kite until you are finished. If you wish to have boat support then the rate changes to $175/hr. Leave all of your kitesurfing gear at home and save money while flying to South Padre. When you get here you can rent a full kiteboarding setup. The rental/demo package consists of:

After taking a lesson you may qualify to rent a Trainer Kite to practice your kite control in between lessons, or just have some fun at the beach for only $20/day. Trainer kites are a great tool for learning how to properly control a kite. They fly similar to the large inflatable kites, so the better you fly a trainer kite, then the better you will be at controlling the inflatable. The real advantage of the trainer kites are they are generally only 2 or 3 square meters of canopy size, which is much smaller than the larger water kites. So, they will teach you how to steer and maneuver a kite without the unnecessary pull and power that the kite boarding kites have. Rent a land board as well for a little extra and you will be kiteboarding!

Air Padre watersports rentals shop is located at 5709A Padre Blvd. Situated on the main Padre Blvd. 3.1 miles north of the bridge, 1/2 block north of Morningside light - on the west side of the street.
