What is Kite Buggying - Explained

Air Padre Describes - What is Kite Buggying

What is Kite Buggying

Kite Buggying (commonly referred to as buggy kiting and power kiting) is a variation of the sport that entails flying power/ inflatable kites while riding behind in a kite buggy. Kite buggies are 3-wheeled vehicles without any engine or extra weight. They come in different styles depending on if you are planning on going fast, sliding, or jumping. Sitting down, the rider will fly a kite of appropriate size for the current winds and his weight. Steering the kite around through the air, the buggy kiter will generate speed and power with the kite while steering the buggy with his feet on the front tire.

Power kites are generally used as opposed to inflatable kitesurfing kites due to their ability to take shape quickly while being more resilient to abrasions from the ground. You can learn how to fly these kites by first learning on a trainer kite to begin to understand the wind window, power control, and steering. In order to kite buggy, you will need a large open space to practice the sport. Preferably a hard packed sandy beach or lake bed. Required equipment is a large kite, bar and lines, kite buggy, helmet, pads, and a waist or seat harness.
