Kiteboarding Guided Downwinders

Ultimate kiteboarding experience: The Down winder Padre Style

South Padre Island kite boarding Downwinders in the Laguna Madre Bay

Down winders are a great way to maximize your progression rate when your time is too valuable to waste staying upwind. Think of the walk you'd have if you went out and did 200 carving turns and 75 jumps nearly back to back. The down winder allows you to to forget about staying upwind and focus on the next level. Once you have learned to stay upwind there are much more exciting things you can do. Read on to get an idea of the various types of services we offer to see which level you qualify for.

The boats are a good size for small groups and easy to board.

We offer different options for the downwind experience. Your experience level will dictate which one you qualify for. We use IKO rider levels to distinguish competencies. The beginner requires a IKO level K-3. Whereas to do an intermediate solo run you'll need to be M-3. For the surf you must be N-3 IKO plus we add toe side riding and "clean" slide and carve transitions. For further explanations read on to see which one fits your level of riding.

Kiteboarding Downwinder: Beginners Supervised

$300 for a 3 hour down-winder

This one is for you if you're riding both directions, almost staying upwind yet not 100% self sufficient. Boat supervised down-winders are a great way to quickly learn valuable riding skills. It is also a great opportunity for advanced riders to focus on nailing a new trick and doing photo shoots. Not having to worry about staying at the same place on the beach, you are free to cruise wherever you want. Great for improving your transition skills, beginning to jump, and much more. Prices are $300 for a 3 hour down-winder. Add $100 for every additional person. Up to four people can participate on the down-winder.

Kiteboarding Downwinder: Intermediate Solo

Intermediate kiter riding downwind in South Padre Island

$69/person for a 3 hour down winder

An intermediate is some who can stay up wind and has figured out how to keep the kite in the air and doesn't invert, twist lines, etc., you must be self sufficient. You come out on the boat with someone else's lesson and get setup and launched first, at the end of the lesson we'll come pick you up. You are on your own. You are responsible for staying close by without getting in the way of the lesson. Don't head off into the sunset, as we are busy teaching and can not simply chase you down. Practically free at $69!
