The kids are back in school, summer is winding down, and the Fall season is approaching. For South Padre Island, that means one thing – more warm wind than you know what to do with! As always, the wind is expected to turn on in October and blow continuously throughout the year on SPI. There is no better time than now to book your fall kiteboarding lessons.
There are 3 distinct types of kiteboard lesson formats that you can take at Air Padre Kiteboarding - Private lessons, group lessons, and kiteboarding camps; illustrated below:
Private Lessons - Private kiteboarding lessons are 1-on-1 instruction with the student. 100% of the time and attention of the instructor is dedicated to the individual's learning. All equipment is provided, and the level of the course depends solely on the student's needs. Rates start at $159/hour.
Group Lessons - Group kiteboarding lessons involve 1 instructor and multiple students. Radio helmets for every student makes it seem like private lessons, as the instructor can communicate with several students directly, all at varying distances. All equipment is included, there are several different levels of lessons, and rates start at $279/ 3hours.
Camps - The 3rd lesson format is the kiteboarding camp – 2 students and 1 instructor for 12 hours spread across 3 days. These are a great way to totally immerse yourself in the sport. Camps are scheduled for specific dates throughout the season, so be sure to find one that fits your schedule. All equipment is provided. Multiple levels of camps are offered; the intro starting at $999/12 hours.
What separates Air Padre from the rest? Well the answer is clear - If you are looking to learn safely, confidently and successfully, Air Padre is the ticket. For an in-depth look at what separates our school from the rest, beyond the use of radio helmets and full boat support, please read our additional write up addressing the specific reasons why to choose Air Padre. Also, feel free to read what the students in the past had to say about our business on the testimonials page.
Looking for other fun activities for the rest of the family? If not everyone in your party in interested in kite boarding, we also offer a wide range of other water sports lessons and rentals. Beginner through advanced lessons are available for surfing, wakeboarding and kite landboarding. As well as equipment rentals for those sports plus kayaking and stand up paddle boarding. Alternatively, there is a host of other things to do on South Padre, including: fishing, horseback riding, snorkeling and more!
What to do after you learn how to kiteboard? Once you have taken a few lessons with Air Padre Kiteboarding, you are probably ready to get your own kiteboard package and continue to ride here on South Padre or back at your home spot! The amount of lessons one will take generally ranges from 2-5 before they purchase their first kiteboarding kite. We actually won’t sell you gear unless we know you have taken, at the very least, the equivalent of our first lesson (for the safety of the customer).
