Recognize the scenery in the photo? The image to the right was taken by Air Padre Kiteboarding at the starting line of the downwind race of the 2010 South Padre Island (SPI) Kite Round-Up. Positioned in front of the second pavilion, we snapped this photograph looking north alongside the Gulf of Mexico. One this day, more than 25 kiteboarders lined up at the south end of the City of South Padre Island to race 5 miles along the beach to the other end of the city.
In the recent Best of Southern Living 2011 magazine, on page 10, Air Padre Kiteboarding is mentioned under our published photo! The article is part of an editorial that lists the "10 Cities You Will Absolutely Love (and Your Budget Will Appreciate, Too)." South Padre Island, Texas was the named #2 city for its great selection of reasonably priced water sports, dining, and hotel accommodations. The article mentions Air Padre Kiteboarding under the 'What to Do' section,
"Get wet with the fairly new sport of kite boarding, or the old-school sport of surfing, by taking lessons at Air Padre Kiteboarding ($50/ hour for a surfing lesson, airpadrekiteboarding.com or 956-299-9463)"
We were very pleased to see our business and pictures published in the national renowned Southern Living magazine. Other businesses on South Padre mentioned in the passage included: The Pearl South Padre, Dirty Al's restaurant, PadreRitaVille restaurant, Amazing Walter sand sculpting lessons, and the Sea Life Nature Center.
