Air Padre Kiteboarding began in 2003 on South Padre Island as a small kiteboard instruction establishment. Jeff Hoxtell, owner and operator of Air Padre, first began teaching kiteboarding lessons out of a small one-room store front. Years later, Air Padre has expanded into a 1200 square foot store, stocking several major kite brands, and employing numerous instructors and managers year round.
Kiteboarding is the sport that started it all for Air Padre. The pristine water conditions of the Laguna Madre Bay allow for a great vacation destination when learning how to kiteboard. Strong and steady winds, shallow water, and warm weather puts South Padre Island among the top kiteboarding instructional locations in the world. Full boat support, radio helmets, certified instructors, and the use of modern kite equipment qualifies Air Padre as the most professional instructional facility around. Wakeboarding, Surfing, Kayaking and SUP instruction and rentals can also be found at the store these days.
